Push To Talk

Universal microphone control across all your apps and games. One control scheme that follows you from game to game, stream to stream — no app-specific settings, no reconfiguration.

One-time purchase Free trial No subscriptions Works offline once activated

What it does

A single microphone control scheme that adapts automatically to whatever you're running.

Three control modes

  • Push to Talk — hold to speak
  • Push to Mute — hold to mute
  • Toggle — flip between muted and unmuted

Hotkeys that work everywhere

Assign unique hotkeys per mode. Single keys or combinations of up to four simultaneous keys, recognised globally across every application and game. Left and Right modifiers are distinguished, so LeftCtrl and RightCtrl count as different keys.

Four input backends

  • Windows Hotkeys — lightweight, works minimized
  • DirectInput — low-level hook, captures all keys
  • Raw Input — reliable where other hooks are blocked
  • Polling — 50 ms key-state poll, maximum compatibility

Profile auto-switch

Push To Talk detects the active foreground window and loads the matching saved process profile in real time. Hotkeys, mic mode, input method, overlay settings and volume all switch with it. Falls back to the global profile when no match is found.

Overlay

Shows microphone state even in minimized or borderless windows. Always on top, draggable and lockable, with the position saved per profile. Seven colors and four sizes.

Not visible in fullscreen mode.

System integration

  • Auto-start with Windows, run minimized to tray
  • Optional always-run-as-administrator with UAC elevation
  • Single-instance enforcement
  • Sound feedback for mic state changes
  • Three themes: Dark, Grey and Light, applied instantly

Under the hood

The details that matter once you start using it daily.

Microphone management

Precise volume control through Windows Core Audio, support for multiple simultaneous microphones, the option to apply state to all non-selected microphones, and right-click device enable/disable. Mic state is restored on next launch from the last saved state.

Profile management

Save and load complete configurations to and from .ptt files — hotkeys, mic mode, input method, overlay settings, volume, theme and all flags. Switch between setups without reconfiguration.

Per-process profiles

Browse and pick any running application with the Window Picker, load an existing saved profile into the UI for editing, or save your current settings as that process's profile.

Mic state monitor

A background watchdog re-applies the correct mute state every 500 ms, so your microphone is never silently overridden by another application or a system event.

Getting it

Try it first — the trial has full functionality.

How purchase and activation work

Push To Talk includes a free trial with full functionality. After the trial, a one-time purchase unlocks permanent access — there are no subscriptions and no recurring fees.

Online: if the device is connected and a previous purchase is recognised, Push To Talk activates automatically — no key entry required.

Offline: if the server is unavailable or you prefer to, enter the serial key manually. Once activated the app works without a connection.

Direct installer

Prefer the installer over the Store? Download the signed .msi straight from the releases page — it installs the same application.

The Microsoft Store build is the recommended route: it updates itself and is the listing customers generally expect.
